ANTICEPTIC CREAM

Some of the most effective antiseptic essential oils include: Bergamot, Lavender, Tea Tree, Benzoin, Clove, Myrrh, Basil, Clary Sage, Eucalyptus, Fennel, Lemon, Pine, Thyme and Rosemary.

Anticeptic herbs include: Arnica, Arrowroot, Camphor, Echinacea and Barberry.

Garlic contains allicin which is a natural antibiotic. 1 milligram of allicin has a potency of 15 standard units of penicillin. It is effective against toxic bacteria, viruses, and fungus. Garlic contains more germanium, an anticancer agent, than any other herb. Garlic contains protein, phosphorus, potassium, Vitamin A, B, B2 and C, calcium, sulfur, selenium, germanium, allicin, allicetoin I & II, aluminum, chlorine, manganese, zinc, copper and iron.

Tea Tree Oil has antiseptic and antibiotic qualities. It can be used as a topical antiseptic and unlike the other topical antiseptics (iodine, mercurochrome, etc.) it does not damage healthy tissue as well as kill bacteria so it does not interfere or slow the process of healing.

Anticeptic Cream

Ingredients:

50 ml dark colored glass jar
43 ml Base Cream
20 drops (1 ml) Lavender Essential Oil
15 drops Geranium Essential Oil
15 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil

Use of this antiseptic blend assists in the healing of cuts and wounds. Use directly onto injury and cover with bandage or band-aid for quicker healing.

Comfrey & Calendula Healing Salve

Ingredients:

1 tbsp beeswax
1 tbsp lanolin
1 tbsp cocoa butter
1 ½ tbsp infused calendula oil
1 tsp glycerine
¼ tsp borax
2 tbsp comfrey infusion
6 drops pettigrain essential oil

Method:

Melt the beeswax. In a separate container melt the lanolin and butter and then stir into the beeswax. Warm the calendula oil and glycerine and then stir into the wax mixture. Dissolve the borax in warm comfrey infusion and add to the mixture. Stir well. When cool and thick add the essential oil and spoon into jars.

Marigold Salve

Ingredients:

½ lb fresh Marigold flowers
½ pint olive oil
2 oz beeswax

Method:

Warm the oil (do not boil) and add the petals, trying to avoid the green parts.  Simmer very gently for 30 minutes and strain out the flowers. Add the wax and melt in. Remove from the heat and stir continually while it cools. Spoon into clean jars and label. This is good for burns and as an antiseptic cream.

The Aromatherapy Herbal Cream

Ingredients:

7.5g Beeswax
7.5g Cocoa Butter
60ml Base Oil or Infused Oil
15ml Herb Infusion in Water (Tea)
5ml Glycerine
10 drops Tea Tree Essential oil
10 drops Bergamot Essential oil
10 drops Lavender Essential oil
Or a blend of oils from the list at the top of this page.

Method:

This will make 120g of cream (2 cream jars worth). The beeswax and cocoa butter should be melted together, and then the base oil added slowly. Once these are all blended together, the water infusion should be added very slowly, stirring briskly. This stage is critical since it is easy for the emulsion to break and the oil/water components to separate. Last of all a teaspoon of glycerine can be added which makes the texture of the cream smoother. Once the cream has cooled slightly stir in the essential oils. If you are using tincture, this can be used in addition/in place of the water infusion.

The cocoa butter can be replaced by lanolin or coconut oil. Vitamin E drops or capsules can be added to help preserve the cream. As soon as the cream starts to cool it should be poured into jars. All creams should be kept in the fridge, and preferably spooned out, since any bacteria from hands may shorten their life.
