Milk is one of the best mediums in which to dilute essential oils before adding them to your bath. Full cream milk is best as the fatty portion of the milk combines well with Essential Oils. A milk bath is a great way of detoxifying your body too.
There are a number of ways to prepare a Milk bath:
You need two or more cups of milk powder combined with a cup of cornstarch. Blend these two ingredients well with hot water and add 5 or 6 dtops of your favourite Essential Oil. Then add it to your bath water just before you get in. This should be enough for two or three baths.
The fresh milk bath is by far the more benefiical:
Pour off the cream from the top of a bottle of milk and add 5 or 6 drops of your chosen oil or blend to this, this will be enough for one bath, stir and add to the bath just before getting into the water. This is a very suitable dilutant for people with sensitive skins and for young children.
You can also use the top of milk, or single cream, with a few drops of essential oil added, as a nourishing lotion for dry skin. To each tablespoon of milk-top or single cream, add between 8 and 10 drops of essential oil. Use at once or keep in the fridge for a day or two.
