GINKGO TEA

The Ginkgo tree is a large tree that can grow up to 120 feet and live up to 1000 years old. The leaves are fan shape with 4 lobes and the tree produces inedible fruit which stores the seed. The only part of the Ginkgo tree that is commonly used today is the leaf. Ginkgo leaf extract is one of the most studied botanicals today and Ginkgo supplements can be found in most health food stores around the world and is one of the best selling.

Ginkgo is available in dried leaf form, capsules, tablets, and extracts and can be found in most health stores. Ginkgo leaf extracts are being used today to treat Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and to promote memory.

While ginkgo can help with many conditions, including circulatory disorders, asthma, and allergic inflammation, its best-documented benefit is for memory enhancement. If you are on any prescription medication, be sure to speak to your doctor before consuming.

Ginkgo products are acetone. That means they are extracted from dried ginkgo biloba leaf. To produce this health-giving extracts from ginkgo biloba leaf, the leaves are harvested in the fall (autumn) as they began to turn green to yellow.

1 ounce dried ginkgo biloba leaves

Instructions:

Bring 2 cups water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat and add ginkgo biloba leaves; let steep for 10 minutes. Strain and serve.
